Everyone is where they are today because of someone in their lives. Someone sometime somewhere supported them, shared their dreams, and helped them to where they are now. I am who I am, and where I am, entirely because of my parents, my teachers, my family, my friends, my country, the many great artists before me, and my contemporaries who continue to inspire me today. Without them not only would I not have the knowledge and humility I do today, but everything I do would hold less meaning.
Sharing my love, passion, and dreams with young minds and artists is one of the most joyful and important things I can do, and it is with great honour and responsibility that I do so. I will continue to update this gallery with photos that I take from across the world – from every city I perform and visit schools in – and I invite you to send me your own photos, selfies, and dreams here…I will publish as many relevant photos as I can, as speedily as I can! Please forgive – in advance – any delays as I am in a constant state of ‘jet-lag’…;)
May you always grow beautifully and artistically, and live a healthy and fulfilled life! Please share your art generously. 🙂
Yi-Jia Susanne Hou
Educational Outreach – Susanne Hou Calgary Mandarin school
During my “Butterfly Lovers – Splendour of China Tour” — I was recently asked in Calgary to give a musical presentation to Mandarin school.
A little girl “Jasmine” said:
“Miss Susanne…my grandmother gave me these 2 stones (one yellow, one purple). I have kept them forever. She told me that one day I should give it to someone, and that person and me would be friends forever.”
She gave me this yellow stone, and said
“now we’ll be friends forever.”
Much love to Jasmine and everyone at Highwood School!!
